Keane Stud is a 275 acre state-of-the-art thoroughbred breeding farm located in the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York.  The farm is in the village of Amenia, which is situated approximately half-way between Belmont Park/Aqueduct in NYC and Saratoga Racecourse in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Keane Stud was designed and built in the mid 1980's by Mr. James Edwards, who searched many areas of New York looking for the limestone-rich soil that is so beneficial in raising strong-boned horses.  He found the ideal location in the gently rolling farmland just south of Amenia. The farm has 116 stalls and was built with the safety and comfort of the horses as its top priority. All hay and straw is stored in a separate barn, and there is a storage facility for the farm equipment.  The farm has an extensive water system fed by a natural mountain spring and a high-flow backup well.  After the farm was built all of the fields and paddocks were seeded with Kentucky bluegrass and white clover that still populate those fields today. Keepsafe fencing is used throughout the farm to help minimize injuries.

KEane Stud Main Barn

Keane Stud consists of four 24 stall barns for mares, foals and yearlings with 12X12 foot stalls; a seven stall stallion barn with 16X16 foot stalls; and a 13 stall isolation barn.  All barns are constructed of insulated concrete block and have twelve foot insulated ceilings with ventilation fans for summer cooling.  The main foaling barn has four extra-large, heated foaling stalls equipped with drains for easy disinfecting.  Each barn is fed by four water hydrants and has its own fire hydrant and hose.  We have a large, heated breeding shed complete with a full reproductive laboratory.
